Calculators for UK drivers and travellers

Twelve tools for the money and legal questions that come with owning a car or booking a trip. Every figure links to the GOV.UK, Sentencing Council, FCA or CAA page it came from. Figures last checked 25 October 2026.

What’s happened?

Fines and points

What a court is likely to do with a speeding or drink-drive case, and when the points on your licence stop counting.

MOT

When the first MOT is due, the earliest date you can test without losing days, and the rules for lorries and trailers.

Car costs

Vehicle tax by registration date and CO2, benefit-in-kind on a company car, pay-per-mile tax from 2028, towing limits, scrap value and car finance redress.

Travel

Compensation owed under UK law when a flight arrives late, and what a passport costs for the whole family.

Why these tools exist

The official sources give you the rules, but not always the answer for your car, your income or your flight. A speeding notice doesn’t tell you which band you’re in. The vehicle tax tables don’t tell you when the expensive car supplement stops. These calculators do that sum for you and show the working, so you can check it against the source.
